How To Become A Member
You are invited to become a member of First Baptist in one of the following ways:
- PROFESSION OF FAITH AND BAPTISM
Upon one’s acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, he/she makes public that commitment, requesting baptism. Baptism is by emersion following one’s profession of faith in Christ. Following baptism, one is accepted as a member of First Baptist.
- TRANSFER OF LETTER
One who is currently a member of a Baptist church of like faith and practice may join First Baptist by requesting membership by promise of letter from the sister church. Upon making this request public, the church office will write the sister church requesting the transfer of letter.
- STATEMENT
One may join First Baptist by statement, where the person has been baptized by immersion following their public profession of faith in Christ, and their church membership records have been lost or destroyed, or their previous church has disbanded and they have no regular church membership.
One who has been saved and baptized in a Baptist church, but their current membership is with another denomination, may join by statement. |
